About Event

Body Beats: A Sound and Rhythm Workshop at Bangalore International Centre

🥁 About the Event

What if you could create music without using a musical instrument? What sounds can your body make, and how can simple movements, breathing and everyday gestures become part of a shared musical experience? Discover the possibilities at Body Beats, an interactive sound-making workshop at Bangalore International Centre, Bengaluru, on Friday, 6 November 2026.

Designed for participants aged 12 to 18 years, this workshop invites children, adolescents and adults to explore sound through the human body. From thumping your feet and clapping your hands to breathing into cupped palms, participants will experiment with different ways of producing sounds using only their bodies.

The session is designed as a sonic playground, where there is no pressure to perform music perfectly or demonstrate formal musical skills. Instead, participants can explore sounds individually and in groups, discover different rhythms and enjoy the freedom of making music through spontaneous experimentation.

Through playful activities, attendees will learn how individual sounds can come together to create interesting rhythmic patterns and group sound experiences. The workshop will also include opportunities to create impromptu ensemble scores, allowing participants to collaborate and build spontaneous musical arrangements together.

The session will be led by Akash Narendran, a Bengaluru-based artist with more than a decade of experience in music and theatre. Alongside facilitating workshops for organisations and performing Playback Theatre, he is also associated with the lullaby show Songs of Sleep.

Conducted in English with Kannada translation, this 75-minute workshop is an opportunity to explore rhythm, creativity, collaboration and self-expression in a relaxed environment.

The workshop ticket also includes complimentary entry to any one of the two plays scheduled on the same day: Navayana (Fresh Air) at 5:00 PM or Level Up at 7:30 PM.
