Nrityakosh presents a captivating evening of Egyptian and Arabic culture through two distinct performances that bring together dance, theatre, music and storytelling.

The evening is divided into two artistic journeys. The first is a theatrical tribute to Oum Kulthum, one of the most celebrated voices of the Arab world and a defining figure in Arabic classical music. The second is a vibrant showcase of Egyptian dance and belly dance, featuring the talented dancers and students of Nrityakosh.

Together, the two performances offer audiences different perspectives on Egyptian culture—first through the extraordinary life and music of an iconic artist, and then through the movement, rhythms and evolving vocabulary of Egyptian dance.

PART I – To Burn to Bloom: An Ode to Oum Kulthum

The evening begins with To Burn to Bloom: An Ode to Oum Kulthum, a theatrical dance production exploring the life, music and legacy of one of the greatest voices of the Arab world.

Featuring eight dancers and one actor, the performance takes audiences into the world of Oum Kulthum, the legendary Egyptian singer whose voice became closely associated with Arabic classical music.

The production looks at the extraordinary cultural influence of her music and the woman behind the voice that captivated generations.

Oum Kulthum and the Cairo of the 1930s and 1940s

Set against the vibrant cultural landscape of late 1930s and 1940s Cairo, To Burn to Bloom takes audiences back to an important period in Oum Kulthum's rise.

This second part shifts the focus from the life and music of a legendary singer to the movement, rhythm and expressive vocabulary of Egyptian dance.

The performances explore different moods, rhythms and styles while celebrating the richness and diversity of Egyptian dance.

Security personnel may search ticket holders and their belongings. Refusal to undergo a security search or possession of prohibited items may result in denied entry without refund or compensation.

Drug-Free Event and Responsible Conduct

This is a drug-free event. The use, possession, procurement, supply or consumption of drugs, narcotics or psychotropic substances may result in immediate eviction without refund or compensation. The organizer may also initiate legal action where permitted by applicable law.

Admission may be refused, or an attendee may be removed, if they appear intoxicated or under the influence of drugs, behave dangerously or inappropriately, or engage in conduct that could cause harassment, damage, injury or nuisance.

Attendees are requested to cooperate with the organizer and venue management throughout the event.

Photography and Recording Policy

The use of audio or video recording equipment, including still cameras, is strictly prohibited.

The organizer and venue do not accept responsibility for injury to persons or for loss or damage to personal property brought to the event.

Tickets must be used in accordance with the rules and regulations of the event organizer and venue management. Unauthorized copies or reproductions of tickets are not the responsibility of the organizer or venue.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Tickets are generally non-refundable and cannot be exchanged, cancelled or returned once purchased, except where specifically stated in the applicable terms.

If the organizer cancels the performance, the ticket fee will be refunded. Other charges, including parking fees, internet handling fees and order processing fees, remain non-refundable.

Tickets may become invalid if their security features have been tampered with.

Any secondary performances or changes to the event lineup, if applicable, remain subject to artist discretion.
