Mir Mukhtiyar Ali

Mir Mukhtiyar Ali is a celebrated Sufi and folk vocalist from Pugal in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, known for preserving and performing the centuries-old Sufiana Qalam tradition. Belonging to the Mirasi community, he represents a 26th-generation lineage of hereditary musicians who have sustained this oral tradition through devotional performance and lived cultural practice.

His music is deeply rooted in the poetry of Sufi and Bhakti mystic saints such as Kabir, Mirabai, and Bulleh Shah. By blending raw Rajasthani folk expression with subtle classical influences, he creates a sound that is both earthy and transcendent, carrying forward an ancient tradition in a contemporary context.

Gaining international recognition through the Kabir Project, Mir Mukhtiyar Ali has performed across major global stages since his debut in 2007, including tours in Europe, North America, and Asia. His collaborations with artists such as Mathias Duplessy and contributions to films like Tashan and Delhi in a Day have further expanded the reach of his musical heritage to global audiences.
