IITian Gavaiya Ki Mehfil – Shivang Live Qawwali Experience
About the Event

Meet Shivang, a.k.a. The IITian Gavaiya — an engineer-turned-musician whose story sounds straight out of a Bollywood film.

Think Farhan from 3 Idiots, but with a musical twist.

His journey began with a familiar parental dream:

“Mera beta Engineer banega.”

Shivang cracked AIR 1679 and secured admission to IIT. But somewhere between “Abbu nahi maanenge” and finally reaching the moment of “Maine Job Chhod Di,” he chose to follow his passion for music.

That decision gave birth to The IITian Gavaiya.

Now, Shivang brings his distinctive energy, audience interaction, and love for Qawwali to IITian Gavaiya Ki Mehfil — an evening designed not simply as a concert, but as a shared musical experience.

What Makes IITian Gavaiya Ki Mehfil Special?

This is a mehfil created for people who love singing along, celebrating music together, and becoming part of the performance.

With a gathering of 400+ Qawwali lovers, the event promises an atmosphere where the audience is not expected to remain silent spectators. Dress up in your ethnics, bring your energy, and get ready for a mass sing-along with fellow music lovers.

1. A Mehfil of 400+ Qawwali Lovers

Imagine a room filled with hundreds of people singing the same beloved melodies together.

That is the spirit of IITian Gavaiya Ki Mehfil.

The event invites Qawwali enthusiasts and music lovers to dress in their favourite ethnic outfits and become part of a collective musical celebration. With 400+ Qawwali lovers expected to come together, the audience itself becomes an important part of the evening.

The focus is on participation, connection, and the shared joy of familiar songs.

2. Unmatched Energy and Crowd Engagement

Shivang's performances are built around high energy and direct interaction with the audience.

At this mehfil, you won't simply sit back and watch a performance. The experience encourages you to sing, dance, scream, and feel every moment.

His energetic stage presence and crowd engagement are designed to turn the audience into an active part of the performance.

The result is a live music experience where the boundary between performer and audience becomes much smaller.

3. Songs That Hit Different

Get ready for a musical journey through 50+ iconic songs spanning timeless Qawwalis and beloved contemporary favourites.

The repertoire includes the legendary Qawwali tradition associated with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, along with songs and favourites such as:

Kun Faya Kun
Damadam Mast Kalandar
Halka Halka Suroor
And many more iconic songs

From deeply soulful melodies to powerful sing-along moments, the set is designed to take audiences through different shades of Qawwali and popular Sufi-inspired music.

More Than Just a Concert

This isn't just a concert. It's a MEHFIL.

The concept of a mehfil is rooted in shared listening, musical appreciation, participation, and connection. IITian Gavaiya Ki Mehfil brings that spirit into a contemporary live-event setting.

Shivang's unusual journey — from cracking IIT with AIR 1679 to leaving his job and embracing music — forms an important part of the identity behind The IITian Gavaiya.

The evening brings together his personal story, Qawwali-inspired music, audience interaction, and a large community of music lovers under one roof.

Whether you are already a fan of Qawwali or simply enjoy powerful live music and mass sing-alongs, the mehfil is designed around an immersive audience experience.

Come Dressed in Your Ethnics

The event encourages attendees to dress up in their ethnics and embrace the traditional-meets-contemporary atmosphere of the mehfil.
