Design Thinking Bootcamp by Primate Advisory – 2-Day Immersive Workshop
About the Event
Step into a 2-day, 14-hour immersive Design Thinking Bootcamp by Primate Advisory, led by Vishal Mimani, Partner & Chief Design Officer, Primate Advisory.
Designed for anyone who wants to become better at understanding problems, generating ideas, and creating human-centered solutions, this bootcamp moves beyond passive learning and puts participants directly into the process of Design Thinking.
Across two action-packed days, participants will observe, interview, define, ideate, prototype, test, and iterate while working on real-world challenges. The learning experience is built around hands-on activities, collaboration, experimentation, and practical problem-solving.
Rather than simply learning about Design Thinking as a framework, participants will have the opportunity to experience how it works in practice. The bootcamp encourages you to question assumptions, ask better questions, uncover genuine user needs, and translate insights into solutions that can create meaningful value.
No prior Design Thinking experience is required. Just bring your curiosity.
What Is the Design Thinking Bootcamp?
Design Thinking is a problem-solving approach that places people and their needs at the centre of the process.
This bootcamp introduces participants to that way of working through a highly practical and immersive format. Instead of relying only on presentations or theoretical discussions, the programme focuses on active participation and experimentation.
Over 14 hours across two days, participants will work through different stages of the Design Thinking process and learn how each stage can contribute to a better understanding of a problem and the development of potential solutions.
The emphasis is on learning by doing.
You will have opportunities to observe situations, speak with users, define challenges, generate ideas, build prototypes, gather feedback, test assumptions, and iterate based on what you learn.
A Hands-On Learning Experience
The bootcamp is designed for participants who want to actively engage with the subject rather than simply listen to explanations.
During the programme, you will work through practical exercises and collaborative activities that encourage experimentation.
The process allows participants to experience how ideas evolve as new information becomes available. An initial assumption may change after an interview. A problem definition may become clearer through observation. A prototype may reveal new questions. Testing may highlight opportunities to improve the solution.
This hands-on format helps make Design Thinking a practical skill rather than simply a concept to remember.
Observe, Interview and Understand
A major part of effective problem-solving is understanding the people experiencing the problem.
The bootcamp focuses on helping participants move beyond assumptions and develop a stronger understanding of real user needs.
Through observation and interviews, participants will explore how to gather insights directly from people and situations rather than relying only on what they initially believe to be true.
This process encourages better questions and more attentive listening, helping uncover information that may not be obvious at the beginning of a challenge.
Define the Right Problem
Understanding a problem is only the beginning. Defining it clearly is equally important.
The bootcamp will guide participants through the process of making sense of what they observe and learn, and using those insights to frame the challenge more effectively.
A clear problem definition can help teams avoid solving the wrong problem or jumping too quickly to a solution.
By learning to identify meaningful user needs, participants can develop a stronger foundation for the ideation and prototyping stages that follow.
Generate Ideas Through Ideation
Once a challenge is understood and defined, the next step is to explore possibilities.
The bootcamp introduces participants to ideation, encouraging them to generate multiple ideas rather than immediately settling on the first solution that comes to mind.
Through collaborative activities and experimentation, participants can explore different directions, challenge conventional thinking, and develop a wider range of potential responses to the problem.
The goal is to create an environment where curiosity and exploration can lead to new possibilities.
Prototype Ideas Quickly
Ideas become more useful when they can be explored and tested.
The bootcamp includes prototyping, allowing participants to turn ideas into tangible representations that can be examined, discussed, and refined.
Prototyping creates a way to explore a concept without treating the first version as a finished solution. Instead, it becomes something that can generate feedback and reveal what works, what does not, and what might need to change.
This practical approach helps participants understand how ideas can develop through experimentation.
Test, Learn and Iterate
Design Thinking does not end when an idea has been created.
The bootcamp also focuses on testing and iteration, giving participants the opportunity to learn from feedback and use what they discover to improve their solutions.
Testing can reveal unexpected insights, expose assumptions, and highlight areas that need further refinement.
Iteration then becomes an important part of the process, allowing solutions to evolve based on evidence and learning rather than simply sticking to the original idea.
This cycle of creating, testing, learning, and improving is central to the practical experience offered during the bootcamp.
Move Beyond Assumptions
One of the key themes of the bootcamp is learning how to move beyond assumptions.
When solving problems, it is easy to rely on what we think users need or what we believe the problem to be. Design Thinking encourages a different approach: investigate, observe, ask questions, gather insights, and learn from real experiences.
The programme is designed to help participants become more comfortable with uncertainty and discovery.
Instead of assuming that the first interpretation is correct, participants are encouraged to explore the problem more deeply and allow insights to shape the direction of their work.
Ask Better Questions
Better solutions often begin with better questions.
The bootcamp encourages participants to develop the ability to ask questions that can uncover meaningful information about users, behaviours, challenges, and needs.
Interviews and observations provide opportunities to learn directly from people, while the broader Design Thinking process helps participants make sense of those insights and turn them into opportunities for action.
This emphasis on questioning can be useful across many different problem-solving situations.
Create Human-Centered Solutions
At the centre of the bootcamp is the goal of creating human-centered solutions.
Rather than designing only around assumptions, preferences, or technical possibilities, the process focuses on understanding the people affected by the problem.
By combining observation, interviews, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, testing, and iteration, participants can learn how to develop solutions informed by actual user needs.
The bootcamp is designed to show how empathy, curiosity, experimentation, and structured problem-solving can work together.
Work on Real-World Challenges
The programme is built around real-world challenges, creating opportunities for participants to apply Design Thinking to situations that require practical problem-solving.
Working with real challenges can help demonstrate how the process operates outside a purely theoretical setting.
Participants can experience the uncertainty of defining a problem, the creativity involved in generating ideas, and the learning that comes from testing and refining concepts.
This practical exposure forms an important part of the immersive nature of the bootcamp.
Collaboration and Experimentation
Design Thinking often involves working with other people, exchanging perspectives, and building on ideas collectively.
The bootcamp incorporates collaboration and experimentation into the learning experience, creating opportunities for participants to learn through interaction as well as individual reflection.
Different perspectives can lead to new questions, new interpretations, and new possibilities.
By engaging with others during exercises and activities, participants can experience how collaborative problem-solving contributes to the Design Thinking process.
Led by Vishal Mimani
The bootcamp is facilitated by Vishal Mimani, Partner & Chief Design Officer at Primate Advisory.
As the facilitator, Vishal will lead participants through the immersive Design Thinking experience, guiding them through the different stages of the process and the practical activities involved.
The programme is designed to provide structured guidance while allowing participants to learn through participation, experimentation, and hands-on work.
