BLEND: A Celebration of Kathak at Shoonya Bengaluru – Tradition Meets Contemporary Expression 💃

🌸 About the Event

Experience the beauty, grace and evolving artistic language of Indian classical dance at BLEND, a special celebration of Kathak bringing together different generations, perspectives and artistic expressions.

Scheduled at Shoonya: Centre for Art and Somatic Practices, Bengaluru, BLEND offers audiences an opportunity to witness Kathak through the artistic journeys of an established exponent and a promising new generation of performers. The presentation celebrates the traditional foundations of the dance form while exploring how it continues to evolve through contemporary interpretations and fresh artistic perspectives.

At the heart of the event is Smt. Durga Arya Ji, an established and respected exponent of Kathak whose artistic legacy reflects a deep engagement with the classical tradition. Her journey represents a form of artistic expression in which tradition is not simply preserved but continually interpreted, experienced and carried forward.

Joining her is Yatra Dance Productions, an emerging Kathak academy rooted in the Lucknow Gharana. With a contemporary perspective and an artistic vision aimed at younger audiences, the academy represents the evolving energy of the next generation of Kathak practitioners.

Through this coming together, BLEND creates a connection between experience and emerging creativity. It highlights the continuity of Indian classical dance and demonstrates how traditional art forms can remain relevant while welcoming new perspectives.
