Aerial Hoop Workshop – Discover Strength, Grace & Movement in the Air

Step into the world of aerial hoop and discover a unique form of movement that combines strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and creative expression. This workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of aerial hoop while learning how to move around and through the hoop with greater confidence and body awareness.

Designed for both complete beginners and participants with some previous aerial experience, the workshop introduces the foundations of hoop movement in an engaging and guided environment.

From basic mounts and holds to transitions, spins, poses, conditioning, and movement sequences, participants will gradually explore different ways of working with the aerial hoop. The session focuses not only on learning movements but also on developing safe technique, physical awareness, confidence, and a sense of flow.

Whether you are curious about aerial arts, looking for a new physical activity, or simply want to challenge yourself in a different way, this workshop provides an opportunity to get off the ground and discover where the hoop can take you.

About the Aerial Hoop Workshop

Aerial hoop, also known as lyra, is an aerial discipline performed using a suspended circular apparatus. It combines elements of strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, movement, and performance.

This workshop introduces participants to the fundamentals of aerial hoop while allowing them to explore the creative side of aerial movement.

Rather than simply learning individual tricks, participants will work on the foundations that help create controlled and confident movement around the hoop. The session includes mounts, basic holds, transitions, conditioning exercises, movement vocabulary, spins, poses, and sequences.

The workshop is designed to provide a balance between physical challenge and creative exploration.

What You Will Learn

During the workshop, participants will explore several fundamental aspects of aerial hoop movement.

Aerial Hoop Fundamentals

The session introduces participants to the basic principles of working with the hoop. You will learn how to approach the apparatus, understand basic movement patterns, and begin developing familiarity with aerial positioning.

For beginners, these fundamentals provide a starting point for exploring aerial arts.

Mounts

Participants will be introduced to mounts, which are ways of getting onto and positioning yourself on the aerial hoop.

Learning controlled mounts helps build familiarity with the apparatus while developing coordination and strength.

Basic Holds

The workshop also introduces basic holds that form part of the foundation of aerial hoop movement.

These exercises allow participants to work on body positioning, control, strength, and awareness while becoming more comfortable in the air.

Transitions

Aerial movement is not only about holding a position. Moving smoothly from one position to another is an important part of developing flow.

Participants will explore basic transitions and learn how movements can connect to create sequences.

Poses and Shapes

The hoop provides opportunities to create a variety of shapes and poses in the air.

Participants will explore beautiful positions while learning how to combine body awareness, balance, flexibility, and controlled movement.

Spins

Spinning is another element of aerial hoop that can add movement and flow to a sequence.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore spins while learning to coordinate their body movement with the hoop.

Conditioning

Aerial hoop requires physical strength and control. The workshop therefore includes conditioning as part of the learning experience.

Conditioning exercises can help participants work toward developing the physical awareness and strength needed for aerial movement.

Movement Vocabulary

Participants will also begin building an aerial movement vocabulary — learning different ways to interact with and move around the hoop.

This provides a foundation for exploring sequences and developing individual movement styles.

Strength, Flexibility and Flow

Aerial hoop brings together several physical qualities in one activity.

The workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore:

Strength.
Flexibility.
Balance.
Coordination.
Body awareness.
Controlled movement.
Movement flow.
Confidence.
Creative expression.

The combination of these elements makes aerial hoop a distinctive movement practice. Participants can experience the physical challenge of working with the apparatus while also discovering the expressive side of aerial movement.

Build Confidence in the Air

For someone who has never tried aerial arts before, getting onto a suspended hoop can feel completely different from familiar forms of exercise or dance.

The workshop provides an opportunity to gradually become more comfortable with aerial movement while learning the basic techniques involved.

Through guided practice, participants can work on developing confidence, body awareness, and familiarity with the hoop.

The goal is to explore, learn, challenge yourself, and have fun while respecting safe movement practices.

Beginner-Friendly Aerial Experience

No prior aerial experience is required.

This makes the workshop suitable for people who are completely new to aerial hoop and want to discover the discipline for the first time.

Participants who already have some aerial experience can also use the session as an opportunity to continue exploring movement, technique, transitions, and sequences.

Whether you are taking your first steps into aerial arts or already have some familiarity with aerial movement, the workshop offers space to challenge yourself at your own level.

Explore Movement and Creativity

Aerial hoop is not only about physical strength. It can also be a form of creative movement.

As participants become familiar with the apparatus, they can explore how different poses, transitions, spins, and sequences connect with one another.

The workshop encourages participants to experience the combination of strength, flexibility, movement, and flow while discovering new ways to express themselves through the hoop.

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is suitable for:

Complete beginners to aerial arts.
People interested in trying aerial hoop for the first time.
Participants with some previous aerial experience.
Dance and movement enthusiasts.
People interested in strength and flexibility training.
Anyone curious about creative movement.
Individuals looking for a new physical challenge.

No prior aerial experience is required, so participants can come with curiosity and an open mind.
