About Event

"The first time I read this book was on a plane and I cried for 2 hours after because it filled me with a sense of love and wonder so large that I didn’t know how to contain it. Some feelings aren’t meant to be contained, so I’m inviting you to share it with me."

-Aakanksha, co-host

We are hosting a live Storytelling and reading of Elif Shafak’s novel, _10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World,_ followed by a conversation.

This is a story of being turned away from the world, but still finding your place in it through the love of your friends, your “water family”. A story of people on the edges of society who, refusing to be contained by the scripts prewritten for them, build something together that is even deeper than blood. It is about people who show up. And keep showing up even after death.

There is pain in this book, but also a reminder that there is so much love and joy to be found alongside the pain.
